Upgraded to PES B

Just when I wasn’t expecting anything special to occur, an impromptu IPPT was staring right at my face. I had no time to react, I had to quickly snap back to reality and gear up.

This was my first as I was graded as a PES C9L9 when I first enlisted into SPF due to Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema). However I underwent a medical checkup sometime in November and following a doctor’s recommendation, my PES status was upgraded to PES B.

For the past 2 weeks, I was concentrating on preparing myself for the Scenario Base Test and Law exam. I did not really put training as one of the items in my to-do tasks. I was a little nervous for it, but nonetheless I was confident that given my physical condition, I would be able to do well.

My grades in the 5 stations:

  • Pull Ups: A (12)
  • Standing Broad Jump: C (228)
  • Shuttle Run: A (9.6 seconds)
  • Sit Ups: A (40)
  • 2.4 km: B (10:50)

As I was running my 4th round for my 2.4km run, I wanted to give up. My shoulders were aching, I was thirsty and out of breath. I looked into my inner self, and I managed to complete the remaining 1.2km. Not forgetting my squad’s field instructor who never stopped encouraging me throughout the entire run. All the more I shouldn’t disappoint him even if I was formerly a PES C9L9 trainee, and I didn’t.

On the overall, I achieved a silver garding and scored 22/25 points. Though I felt I could have done better in my Standing Broad Jump, this result would suffice for now. I will continue training on a regular basis so as to achieve better results in the future. A straight 25 points score is what I intend to reach.

With my newly known PES status, things are going to be slightly different for me.

I can foresee myself spending an additional month in HTA to learn Police Defense Tactics and swimming while my squad mates are posted to their vocations. But for now, I need to focus for this Friday’s Law exam.

A very Merry Christmas to all my readers!
