Dark theme Widgetized Bug

The Dark theme is not widgetized and so I took it upon myself to download the widgetized version by Diego Ciconi. However when I validated it, I found it to be XHTML invalid.

Credit to Diego Ciconi for making a widgetized version of this theme, but I felt a need to make it more better than it currently is, and that is to ensure that it is XHTML 1.0 valid.

If you are looking for a fix to make Bartelme’s Dark Theme Widgetized validate as XHTML 1.0, you have come to the right place!

Download Dark Widgetized (60.8kb)

Updates

  • 12 January 2008 – Displays native WordPress tags instead of UTW tags in the theme.
  • 21 November 2007 – Renamed theme folder name as it was stripping the CSS when uploaded.
  • 20 November 2007 – Repackaged the theme to include all core theme files
  • 21 October 2007 – Widget support for sidebar1

Instructions

Unpackage the zip file and upload the folder to your WordPress Theme directory and activate this theme as the active one in your presentation tabs.

All I ask from you is that you make a ping back to this post so that I know who are using this version of the Dark theme.

Should you have any questions or encounter any difficulties, feel free to post it here.

    Hey Darran,

    Good job, man. I haven’t validated it…

    Thank you.

  2. Rene says:

Wow, thanks thats great! I didn’t even know that a widget version would exist.

Now I have only one question you might be able to answer, because you seem to have digged deep into the dark themes structure: Is it possible to get rid of sidebar 1? So basically to combine both sidebars into one?

    Thanks,
    take care,
    Rene

@Diego Ciconi: You are welcome, we are all trying to make Bartelme’s Dark theme perfect. Hopefully you can help me let more people know about this fix.

@Rene: I take it that you did not realize Diego Ciconi had a widget version available for download.

Should you wish to combine the 2 sidebars into 1, you have to make changes to the CSS. It is possible, but it will take some work from you. But I see no reason to combine them into 1 because I see sidebar1 as 1 which is unique.

  9. darran says:

You can change the presentation of the themes by editing the style.css file. All these properties which you want to change are all found in that file itself.

I’ve uploaded the latest update to my themes folder and activated it and it seems there is an error. Please take a look and see. I’ve tried it on 2 separate blogs and it has done the same thing – stripped out all the CSS.

    Thanks for the help
