Wisdom Tooth extraction
I had the option to wait for a referral from a polyclinic so that I would be fully covered on my wisdom tooth extraction and need not fork out a single cent. But I chose not to, as I did not want to complicate matters any further.
My gums were already pretty badly infected due to my erupting molar and I could not afford to delay the operation any longer lest more complications appear.
The operation including an X-ray cost a total of SGD $450. Prior to the extraction, countless injections were given to numb the pain which will occur when my tooth gets operated on. At some point of time, it was very painful as the infected part of my gum was injected.
The extraction was a very rough process, my wisdom tooth was practically man handled. The operation rounded off with some stitching work done to my wound.
I had extreme difficulty in eating my dinner. I could not open my mouth as wide as I would have liked. And because of this, I could not eat any food item which requires excessive chewing.
Till now, the pain is still there. As of now, I have to rely on the painkillers and antibiotics to help curb with the discomfort and swelling. Hopefully by the 3rd day, the pain would completely subside and I can enjoy eating my meals again.
heys…
its just for the moment eh…after a few days, it will go away.
i know what you mean abt you being man handled! although i couldnt feel it, the denist literally pulled and plucked and hacked and knocked and drilled like some construction work!
guess you’re on 1wk mc?
Eating is like a torture, but it is getting better by the day. Hopefully soon, I can eat my favorite food items again.
Surprisingly, despite the injections, I could feel some discomfort when he actually got down to extracting the tooth. Yeah, I am on 1 week mc till Friday.
=)
endure!!!
hahaha..

Why is this so? You’re a nsf?
Yes I am a NSF, but a long long way from ORD
I went to the dentist for a toothache and was told it could not be saved and said it should be pulled. The dentist I used did not put me on antibiotics for the infection and proceeded to extract it, three days later I was in the hospital with a massive infection, due to I believe his negligence. I have no insurance and my hospital bill so far is 30,000.00 and the bills keep coming in. I was in the hospital for 7 days. I live paycheck to paycheck as it is, is the doc liable?
Donna: I am sorry for you. I am sure you can take it up with the hospital as it indeed looks like negligence on the dentist’s part.
