This is the first time I am actually applying to be accepted in the top 3 local universities in Singapore: Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Management University (SMU).

I did not apply last year due to not having available my final polytechnic semester results. Furthermore I was not confident of just sending in an incomplete application. I wouldn’t say I am an excellent candidate to be selected, my results are mediocre at best with a GPA of 2.86 out of a maximum 4. Friends around me would probably have a much better result and credit to them.

Along my polytechnic route, I had faltered and lost my focus for two semesters. In the end it was the poor showing during this period of time which had cost me dearly. These are setbacks which could have been avoided and it has only put me in a more difficult spot. Despite knowing how tough it would be to get accepted, I am nonetheless going to try.

I have a decently impressive resumé of achievements and testimonials given by my then immediate supervisors. Hopefully it can convince the universities that I deserve a place despite my not so outstanding academic performance.

I am very clear on what I aim to do in future, and that is to stay within the IT line and delve fully into development. That has always been my interest and passion. Till today, I am still keeping up to date with development on the web. I am not really worried by the fact that I may have to continuously keep up with the emerging technology because that is what I do during my free time.

I really enjoy the process of development, analyzing the systematic flow, coming out with the algorithm, putting the code into place and finally debugging encountered errors. It is challenging yet interesting.
