Following the completion of my Root Canal re-treatment just over a month ago, I mustered enough courage to schedule a tooth crowning appointment. I opted for a familiar face and decided not to get my crowning done at Tan Tock Seng’s Dental Clinic.

There was to be a total of 2 installments to be done. Today’s visit was to do up a temporary crown.

Prior to the appointment, I was getting the jitters. To calm myself down, I googled the process of tooth crowning. After reading how 2 year old kids have gone through it without being traumatized by the agonizing pain like I have been with the Root Canal re-treatment, I felt less tensed. Some encouragement through Plurk helped too.

When the dentist told me that there wasn’t a need for an anaesthetic injection and that it was a painless procedure, I could breath easy.

With the exception of occasional bleeding from the gums just like in a routine teeth checkup, there was no discomfort experienced. It was however a mess. During presumedly the shaping of my tooth, droplets of water were recklessly being sprayed. At a point of time, the assistant thought it was a better idea to practically cover my entire face. I had no complaints though.

When I had a look at my temporary crown in the mirror, I was happy. At least for the time being, my front tooth has a color which is similar to the others. It has been a while since I could picture myself giving a nice smile.

I paid SGD $500 in total and the permanent crown would be cemented in place next week. Not too long to go now before I can finally conclude a bad tooth year.
