A short preview of version 2.0 was presented during the ping.sg 2nd anniversary party. Just short of 3 months later, a hardworking Uzyn releases an update, 1.9. As for 2.0, let’s just be a little more patient.

Sorted pings

As a user, It was difficult keeping track of the pings of blogs which I enjoy reading. The only way was to browse the user’s profile page and it was troublesome at best. At times, I would miss out on their latest pings if they did not manage to get ponged to the top 10 leader-board and make it more noticeable.

You can finally keep track of your friends' pings

The latest pings have been put into 3 categories; Public, Friends’, My Pings, all of which are quite self explanatory. The 2nd category, Friends’ is the one which is the most delightful of all. I will never miss another ping again. But of course, I got to start adding more users to my friends list first.

A revamped user profile

The user profile are spotting a few changes.

The all new user profile

Previously, we could know how many users loved a particular blog, but we did not know who they were. Now finding out which users have taken an interest in my blog and which do I follow is short work. To have my pings displayed under your friends’ category, a simple click on the blue ‘Follow limetouch’ button would do.

Your blog statistics in a month

We would all love to know the amount of activity we are chalking. This graph on your pings, pongs and reads is something fresh out of the oven. It clearly illustrates what a lazy user I have been this past month, ponging no more than 3 pings per day. I ought to be reading more pings not listed in the top 10 leaderboard.

Who are your blog followers?

If this feature was not implemented, I would not have known that I had which users were following my pings, some of which even I do not have the slightest impression of. Nonetheless, I just want to say a big thank you to you guys.

These are not the only changes made. Previously, your user profile page would display your 10 latest pings. In 1.9, your pings are sorted into 2 headings; Last 5 Pings and Most Popular Pings. I like how easy it is to find out which of the user’s pings made his/her period of fame.

Are lovers and followers the same?

Your blog information

This is general overview of your listed blogs. I could not find the icon which I could click on to love a certain blog. If memory serves me right, it used to be located just next to the blog’s title in the ping listing. Since the number of users who loves your blog are still displayed, does that mean loving and following a blog are two separate actions altogether? Or are they the same?

Friends and Ignores

I am sure by now it is starting to get confusing. Don’t worry, I was too when I was first introduced to 1.9. When you follow a user, they automatically become your friend. I think it is pretty safe at this point to conclude that a friend is a follower.

The ignores is probably my favorite feature of this entire release. Pings from an ignored user will never ever be shown to you, only if you request for it. Even under the public category, a small message would be in the place: Ping hidden. Show. And I am already starting to love it.

Private pongs

There is no need to reveal your identity when you pong a post

Want to pong a post without letting anyone know its you? You can now remain anonymous without logging out of your account. However I do not think I will be using this feature very often as I do not have any problems letting other users know what I am reading. However this will almost definitely come in handy at times.

1.90 is a very neat release, and I am sure it will further enhance the user’s experience. Amazing work by Uzyn who has worked tirelessly to bring these new features into play.
