I have been suffering from unbearable pain on the right side of my gums for the past week. Almost everyday, I would wake up from my sleep due to the pain and the only way I could get back was to numb it by drinking extremely cold water and taking 2 tablets of panadol.

Everyone whom I told this problem to branded it as a case of not brushing my teeth properly. However I have never been negligent about hygiene. Nonetheless, I did not want to consult a doctor and was hoping the pain would somehow subside away, but it never happened.

During lunch, I was feeling that same familiar pain. I bore with it with all my might, but after an hour or so, I could not hold it back any longer and finally gave way. I headed down to the walk-in clinic at Tan Tock Seng Hospital(TTSH) to do a checkup and according to the doctor, my wisdom tooth is on the verge of erupting. For the time being, I am to take painkillers should the pain returns. In addition to that, I have been given a 2 day absence from work.

It is not certain whether I am required to extract it. I would have to book a visit to the dentist and he would make the decision. On top of that, that isn’t the only business I have with him.

Half of my front tooth was broken in an accident 8 years ago. The broken half was compensated with a filling as a temporary solution. However it would only last me till I am 21. The permanent solution would be to cup a crown over my broken tooth.

As how things stand at the moment, I am going to have at least one dental operation done. But I shall wait for the confirmation from the dentist as to whether an extraction of my wisdom tooth needs to be done or not.
