National Beach Soccer Championships 2008
The Teva National Beach Soccer Championships 2008 was held at Siloso Beach. In a somewhat last minute fashion, we registered at the cost of SGD $15 per person. Bikini babes and the sun while playing beach soccer. What’s not to like?
The General Rules and Regulations clearly stated that ‘All contestants are to report to the tournament director 60 minutes prior to the start time for registration’. It was fixed at 0800 hrs. So were we supposed to be there at 0700 hrs? In the end, we only arrived after 8. I can’t help but think that it was a hilarious attempt on their part to get all the participants to arrive on time.
The girl with the sun glasses who can play pretty well is hawt.
We called ourselves the ‘Sons of beach’. There were other comically made out team names too e.g. ‘Lao Po Po’. For all of us, prior to today, we did not once attempt to play beach soccer. It was a new experience for each and every one of us.
1 win and 2 losses. 3 scored and 4 conceded. That isn’t exactly a poor performance by any means from 5 absolute newbies to Beach Soccer. For the most part, I was playing as the goalkeeper. It was only when all our hopes of qualifying to the next round were gone and dusted did I have a few minutes of game time on the sand.
It wasn’t easy. I had problems controlling my movement, my feet kept sinking into the sand and my usual blistering pace was not in the least effective. More often than not, I was on the verge of losing my balance.
If anything, I got a couple of scratches on both my legs and feet, a Teva jersey which I accidentally left behind and above all, a great time at Sentosa. I would have shot a couple of photos too if I had brought my T100.

seems like a nice day out! (:
