My 2007 Christmas Eve
I had already expected 2007’s Christmas eve to be slightly different from previous years but what I couldn’t imagine was that how special a night this was for me. Instead of the usual nights to the city, squeezing with many others in the crowd; I spent my night attending a Christmas service at City Harvest Church located at Singapore Expo.
Ironically, being a Roman Catholic, this is my first time actually going to a Church on Christmas Eve. I really miss the hymns singing, where we would all stand and start worshiping Jesus. And though I was suffering from a mild cough, I participated with the utmost enthusiasm and zest.
The service filled me up with warmth and an endless beam of hope. Hope for someone to come into my life whom I could find happiness with. What I really enjoy about going to a service/mass is that you can actually be yourself to admit your faults and wrongs without being concerned about what people might think. Let Jesus lead you and guide you to become a better person. That was the feeling I got.
In a very long time, I could actually just let go of what’s going on in my life and do a self reflection on what I have done wrong to anyone in the past. And when I look back, I probably feel like I was a real jerk to begin with.
Everyone makes mistakes, including myself and it is up to us to try and make it right to change for the better of ourselves and those around us.
Christmas is the time of giving, nothing beats the joy of giving a gift to others. I wanted so much to buy something for her, but due to time constraints beyond my control, I could not. And when she actually presented a gift to me, I was touched but at the same time, I could not feel the joy which comes with getting something for someone.
Nonetheless, I was so happy that I had such a wonderful friend whom I could share this Christmas with. It has slightly been more than a year since I last got to know her and I am honored to have her acquaintance.
Merry christmas to you!
