I have been accepted into NAAEC
Following 2 rejection letters from SMU and NTU in which I tore up even before opening after seeing how thin the envelope was, I have received my letter of acceptance into Ngee Ann Adelaide Education Center (NAAEC).
NAAEC is a joint venture between Ngee Ann Kongsi and the University of Adelaide. Currently, they are only offering the Computer Science under-graduate program as well as a couple of post-graduate programs.
I will begin a crash course route into the Bachelor of Computer Science. Lessons will begin in late July on a weekly basis on Monday and Thursday nights.
To enroll into the Bachelor of Computer Science, you got to have an average grade of Bs during your Diploma. I had a combination of As, Bs, Cs and Ds. And not surprisingly I was not qualified enough. Thankfully, they decided to give me an entry route by offering me a place in the 5 week long preparatory course.
I will look upon this as a revision for the modules I have taken back in Singapore Polytechnic. I am also eager to prove to myself that the grades I achieved back then were no more than flukes due to a lack of motivation.
This is the perfect opportunity for me to make amendments for my poor showing which does not reflect my true ability. People around me regard me as a very competent programmer yet I do not have the grades to back it up.
A satisfactory pass would be sufficient for me to advance to pursuing the degree. Of course I am aiming far higher than that.
I can’t wait to get back to studying again.

Your NAAEC sounds as good as our local uni
Trust me, SMU/NTU ain’t it cracked up to be
Either way, accepted into NAAEC or SMU or NTU, you’re in for rough time mugging
Good luck
I have heard really good things about NAAEC, I had decided a long time ago that I wanted to do Computer Science, and SIM does not offer a Computer Science bachelor either.
NTU, SMU and NUS are the most recognized unis in our green country. The saying goes: local unis are for the good ones, and those who can’t study, there is the private unis. I am not sure how true is that?
