A taste of TS Hotel’s breakfast (Western + Chinese cuisine). It is really filling and heart warming, nothing too exceptional and nothing too poor, it was decent.

Headed to Xi Men METRO station to get a 1 day Taipei Pass, gives us discounts for so many selected locations.

The METRO is very different from Singapore’s MRT. Their seats are arranged in a way which is perpendicular in some parts, and not adjacent to each other like in Singapore. Their METRO also moves comparatively much quicker than Singapore, you need to hold onto the support bars if you do not want to lose your balance.

Headed to Guandu Station as we had to take a bus to Formosa Fun Coast from there. The Taipei Pass was really problematic, when I tried to exit, it gave me an error, as a result, I had to go around the station for assistance. Nonetheless, all that was cleared and just outside the station, we boarded the bus to Formosa Fun Coast.

The journey was rough, at any moment, the bus feels like it was going to be split into 2 sides. The road was very narrow as well, nothing I have ever seen in Singapore. It is even more narrower than the roads you have in Little India’s streets.

Formosa Fun Coast was a blast. Taiwan’s “Wild Wild Wet”.

Formosa Fun Coast

On sight, the slides look very dangerous. It was so high up, and the slides didn’t look very secure at all. I was thinking that should we fall, we would be dead without thought because it was that high. The first ride got us climbing more than 5 flights of stairs.

There were so many rides, thrilling but yet scary. I feel there is a need to talk about the most dangerous ride. It would be … wait let me describe it in the most realistic way.

It is like a normal old abolished metal playground slide down 30 degrees from at least a good 80m. It is designed in such a way you go a good 10m in a tunnel, and the remainder plunges you down in a 30 degrees angle.

So you go down in a tunnel dark for about 5 seconds, and suddenly you are sponged out flying down the slides. The barrier of the slide is not higher than 3/4 of your forearm. So you can imagine the feeling I was undergoing when I took that ride? It scared the death out of me, I never had my life so loose on the line before whilst having fun. I definitely was not going to embark on that life risking ride the 2nd time.

The lazy pool deserves a mention too. It is very long, I could easily say it is more than 5 times longer than Jurong East’s Swimming Complexes’. What made it special was that there are different routes to take, and that makes it even more interesting.

Outside Formosa Fun Coast, there was this irresistible mountain background sitting at the back, we couldn’t resist but take a picture there.

On the way back to Guandu Station, we faced the same problem with the Taipei Pass, it was getting quite frustrating. So onto Shih Lin Night Market. You do know of Singapore’s Famous Shih Lin Snacks, I am a regular there and my trip to Taiwan must be filled with an experience at the originator. We made a mistake of coming too early, and as a result some of the stalls are not opened.

I was definitely not going to miss out on the Chicken Fillet, the ones famously sold at Shih Lin Taiwan Street Snacks. The queue speaks for itself.

The competition in the Night Market is scary, you can have 2 drink stalls fighting for every customer they see, they will pester you non stop and all I can say is “不要” and head on to a more less turbulent looking stall.

The fillet is somewhat different from Singapore. No doubt the size speaks for itself, but the only downside would be the bones in the fillet, makes finishing it a messy task. Still, 9.9/10. This is a MUST-try in Shih Lin Night Market. Tried the Smelly Beancurd, I don’t find it anything great. It is smelly and I don’t find it that tasty.

Tried the famous shaved ice, and it really tastes very nice, it has become one of my favorites.

As Miramar Ferris Wheel was near our station, we headed there to take a look. We didn’t go to the Ferris Wheel for fear that it was going to rain judging from the appearance. So off we went for some grocery shopping if you would call it before heading back to the hotel for a good rest.

Xi Men Ding once again was our last stop. I bought an Adidas jacket for about 1700+ NT/SGD 80 and 庭竹’s album; 雨聲 from Rose Records equivalent to Singapore’s HMV, I already have an eye for this jacket in City Link, but it cost a sweet SGD 109, to get it for 39 dollars lesser was a great bargain, so why not? The sweet looking sales-girl really caught my eye, very easy to approach her and very friendly, it really ends the day on a high.

Looking forward to 92 stories of Taipei 101!
