I was nothing like my usual confident self when I stepped into the dental clinic. For the past couple of months, that confidence has been on the dip with each visit to the dentist. Thankfully there were 2 patients ahead of me, that gave me a couple of minutes to brace myself for the wisdom tooth extraction I was going to be put through.

I know I shouldn’t be the least bit nervous, as I have been through a much major wisdom tooth extraction before. But after what I have been through with regards to dental visits, there is that tiny bit of fear inside of me.

The 20 minutes spent waiting before my name was called seemed so short. With the utmost reluctance, I dragged myself to enter the dentist’s room.

During the extraction, I could handle the mental torture no longer. Closing my eyes was the only relief I could look to, and that was what I did. On more than one occasion, the dentist stopped to ask whether I was alright. And each time, I gave an assured answer. I only had one thing floating in my mind, and that is for the tooth to be removed as soon as possible.

The top right wisdom tooth was a tough fighter, it had no intention of going down easily, so much that the dentist was forced to use a combination of tools.

Before too long, it was over. But just to be on the safe side, I requested the dentist to do a check on my other wisdom teeth. It was shocking to know that I only had 3 wisdom tooth and 2 of them are in a better place now. Most have 4. The final one showed no signs of erupting, at least anytime soon.

All that is left is to get over the post wisdom tooth extraction period, and things should resume on a normal note. In comparison with my first extraction, a day’s rest is all I need, and I should recover fully in a couple of days.

After a long arduous and painful 9 months, both mentally and physically, I can finally wrap up my tooth problems in 2008.
