I am finally done with the 5th and final practical for Computer Science Concepts. Starting tomorrow for the next 2½ weeks, I will be fully focused on preparing myself for the exam on 13th December. It may only be a single paper I am sitting for but it isn’t easy by any means.

The schedule of my intensive study classes are arranged in a way which restricts any momentum if any. For the most part, we are moving at a very rapid pace and its difficult not to just stray away and daydream during a 5 hr long lecture with a 15 minute break in between. I am just not able to absorb such a huge load of information at 1 go.

After an intensive, I would not touch my lecture notes unless I am working on a practical. This is something I must work on improving. I have only recalled doing a recap once, and that was a couple of weeks after my 1st intensive. I am not at such a huge disadvantage because of my Java programming background which makes up half of the module’s syllabus. I won’t be so lucky next time though. A required discipline is needed to get your engine moving in the right direction, and I have yet to find mine.

I need more time to adjust. It may take a module or two, maybe even more. I can’t say when for sure. However as soon as this schedule becomes part of my routine, I will be able to breathe easier and cope better.

When I look upon this exam, I am instantly reminded of the mistakes I made during my Poly days. A lack of focus during that crucial period was enough to do the devastating damage.

I am determined to not let history repeat itself. To do that, I mustn’t let emotional distractions affect me too much. I want to do well and get off to the best of starts.
