A WordPress Theme Idea - Minimalism
7 May 2008
It has been slightly over 3 weeks since I released Mocha Lime, adding a couple of aesthetic changes to it along the way. I don’t think I can ever be satisfied with something for a long period of time, I always want to make improvements to make it better. And that applies to creating WordPress themes as well.
I wouldn’t consider Mocha Lime as a WordPress theme I am proud of because of the sole reason that I can’t design for nuts. You can provide me with all the tools I need to come up with a design, but at the end of the day, you are not going to get a very exciting end product.
Out of no where, a design idea struck me; “Minimalism”. There seems to be a misconception of this particular design idea being simple. To clarify, minimalism does not necessarily mean simple. I would like to think of it as a style which takes away any aesthetic distractions and focuses on the content you are offering.
This promises to be something fresh, away from my blog’s familiar look and feel.
Expect this new theme to be extremely light weight, focusing a lot on the usage of the Mootools JavaScript framework and Ajax. There will be few/no images used. Functionality would be its main priority ahead of aesthetic beauty.
I think that is just about all I would like to reveal.
btw, del.icio.us for Mac OS - Delish.

Can’t wait to see how the new theme looks like.
