20,000 feet up high
When I was a much younger adolescent, I dreamt of taking myself up high, to venture the vast uncovered sky all over the world. Donning the famous SIA pilot uniforms, sending millions and millions of travelers around the world. Rome, Taipei, Tokyo, Paris, Madrid, whatever it takes, I will fly there.
Traveling at minus degrees, navigating through tough weather conditions, communicating with each airport’s tower control before each landing, judging wind speeds and planning each route are just some of the things.
Of course, dreams are a long shot away from reality, you can’t always do what you love as a career. But I have the option to live my dream by traveling, experiencing the many diverse and unique cultures the world has to offer me, to scale as much of the world as possible.
Whenever I board the plane, it is more than just a journey to another land, it is a good span of time I relish.
Right from the start when the aircraft gets ready for take-off on the runway till it embarks on its destination, I was always fascinated by it. I enjoy the process of a take-off, when the aircraft shifts to max power and you actually ascend into the air, above the clouds, Indescribable feeling! Just looking down, and it is really amazing to see those tall structural buildings gradually become minute representations of their former self.
With my enlistment looming in just less than 2 months, I do not know when I can board SIA again.
